“2nd International Forum of Young Poetesses” was an international project implemented by the “Great Silk Way” International Youth Union and its member organizations. The Forum was aimed at creating a space for young and talented artists from the countries, historically connected with cultural bounds of the Silk Road, for self-expression, exchange and discussions on common challenges.
On March 12-15 2014 the Great Silk Way International Youth Union hosted its 2nd International Forum of Young Poetesses.
Representatives of Albania, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Egypt, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine participated at this forum.
The forum was visited by many spectators, vise-minister of Youth and Sports, representatives of the cultural life of Azerbaijan such as Fahraddin Manafov, Rashad Majid.
At the opening of the event, the Azerbaijani artist Mehriban Zeki performed her composition. After this, the poetesses started to deliver their poems on their native languages, with translation available in Azerbaijani and English on the background.
After the poetesses delivered their speeches, they started discussion in working groups. The speakers were writers Chingiz Abdullayev, Gunel Anarqizi and the professor from the Baku Slavic University Rahila Qeybullayeva. The topics of the working group were the following:
1. East-West Cultural diversity from women’s perspective.
2. Latest tendencies in 21st Century – Traditional and Online literature
3. Calling for peace in modern literature.
Before the event, on March 13 the participants had visited the Writers Union of Azerbaijan, had a city tour and press-conference.
